Walz Statement on Attorney General’s Officer Charging Decision
Attorney General Keith Ellison today announced that he has charged all four officers involved in George Floyd's death, and announced that he has increased the charge against former officer Derek Chauvin to second degree murder. Governor Walz released the following statement:

Executive Assistant Position
Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers, Local 34 is looking for a motivated, independent person that can work well with others to fill an integral role in the office.
Eligibility: applicants must be an active Journey person.
Position offers 40 hours a week at current Journey Person foreman rate plus International pension (must have 5 years vested in ) and cell phone.
Our Executive Assistant reports to and works directly for the Business Manager of the Local Union office, and assists the other Business Agents and Office staff with daily tasks. The following responsibilities will expected of qualified applicants:
Daily Responsibilities
- Answering the phone, questions, redirecting as necessary to correct staff member or external vendor.
- Creating, Reviewing, and Sending General Correspondence - paper and email.
- Sorting mail, filing paperwork appropriately.
Weekly Responsibilities
- Checking weekly time card entries.
- Maintaining Travelers Log.
- Creating and tracking grant agreements.
- Generate reports from Access Database or via your own creative initiative/devices.
- Perform data entry using Access Database. Data entry for each member includes: address changes, qualifications, fines, fees, assessments paid.
- Connect members with third party resources outside hall if necessary.
- Assessing Fines, fees, and tracking unpaid balances.
Monthly Responsibilities
- Assist with importing data from the Funds Office, use Access Database to generate letters for dues and mortuary assessments to be mailed out to members.
- Track member status changes (active, inactive).
- Follow up with members with outstanding accounts.
- Provide reports as needed for monthly meetings.
- Making sure supplies are ordered/in stock for office, union hall, and kitchen.
- Write newsletters and other flyers to send out to members as needed.
Yearly Responsibilities
- Gather and submit information to Department of Labor (Prevailing Wage Surveys).
- Organize (and attend) Annual Events.
- Help train incoming members on how to submit weekly online time cards.
- Assist with various clerical office tasks as needed.
Qualified Applicants Must be able to:
- Speak and write English.
- Answer and direct phone calls.
- Use Windows based computers.
- Troubleshoot printer and other network errors.
- Have Microsoft Office 365 proficiency (Outlook , Word, Excel, Access, Publisher).
- Work well independently and with others.
- Prioritize tasks, and be willing to set tasks aside when requested.
- Be available to work 40 hours a week; Monday through Friday.

Walz Announces Modified Nighttime Curfew
Governor Tim Walz today signed Executive Order 20-69 modifying and extending the temporary nighttime Minneapolis and St. Paul curfew through Wednesday morning to provide safety for Minnesota residents from individuals who have engaged in unlawful and dangerous activity in recent days and threatened the security of lawful demonstrators and first responders.

Walz Signs Executive Order Activating National Guard
Governor Tim Walz today signed Executive Order 20-64, activating the Minnesota National Guard to help protect Minnesotans’ safety and maintain peace in the wake of George Floyd’s death. Local leaders have requested National Guard resources after extensive damage to private property occurred and peaceful protests evolved into a dangerous situation for protesters and first responders.
