Last night, Governor Tim Walz signed six bills into law, including measures to increase reimbursement rates for child care providers, prohibit schools from suspending prekindergarten students, increase vaping prevention instruction, and require all teachers to have annual mental health training.

Walz Announces Businesses Can Now Apply for $62 Million in COVID-19 Relief Funding
Governor Tim Walz today announced the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is now accepting applications for the $62.5 million Small Business Relief Grants Program for businesses impacted by COVID-19, which he signed into law last week.

Walz and DFL Leadership Press Conference
This morning, Governor Tim Walz and DFL legislative leaders held a press conference to urge Senate Republicans to take up and pass the People of Color and Indigenous (POCI) Caucus police reform and accountability bills. The governor referred to the police accountability measures passed by Senate Republicans late Tuesday/early Wednesday as “weak sauce” and wants to sign the POCI Caucus-sponsored bills on Friday.

Walz Announces Gradual Re-Opening of Indoor Dining, Gyms, Entertainment Venues
Governor Tim Walz today announced Phase III of the Stay Safe MN plan, including a gradual turn of the dial to allow cautious and safe re-opening of indoor dining, gyms, and entertainment venues beginning Wednesday, June 10, 2020. Customers and employees will be either strongly recommended or required to wear masks and will be required to adhere to appropriate social distancing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
